Hallowish for kids like Harriett
🎃 This Halloween, our family is fundraising for kids who struggle with more than they should have to in life due to critical illness and health challenges. Wishes bring kids and families a reprieve and joy. It isn’t easy to splurge on fun things, when time and funds are tied up in medical procedures.
✨ Harriett and Melissa’s Story:
Our family friend Harriett is a tenacious, funny and beautiful teen who goes to school with my daughter Charlotte. She is also the only young person in Australia diagnosed with an ultra-rare combination of Prader-Willie syndrome and Cystic Fibrosis. This has led to a lifetime of daily treatments and medicines, and countless medical procedures and surgeries over the years. It also means constant lifestyle adjustments for her whole family, and often missing out on things that the rest of our young people take for granted.
Her Mother Melissa, never stops fighting for better outcomes. Not just for Harriett but for all sick kids.
🦋 In 2022 they were recipients of a Make-a-Wish funded trip to QLD to visit butterflies. We were so excited for them. They now encourage people to donate to allow others to experience wishes.
🎃 🧙♀️ This year we are combining our love of Halloween with Charity. As usual, we will welcoming the local community for trick-or-treat (Friday 31 October) at our Halloween House “The Witch’s Lair”.
While there is no donation expected on the night, and we encourage local kids and young people to get out and have fun by viewing the decorations and grabbing a treat, we are also asking any of our friends and community who have enjoyed our Halloween display over many years now, to consider donating to this Make a Wish campaign.
