Binky’s Big Ride for Wishes - Indian Pacific Wheel Ride

“What if you temporarily took leave from the safety of everyday life to battle through a challenge that scares you? What if your only worries we’re riding, finding food and water and a place to sleep each night? What if your forgot your self imposed limits just to see what you were truly capable of once?”

On the 16 March 2024 at 6:22am I will set out from Fremantle, Western Australia in the endeavour to ride my bicycle 5,471km from ocean-to-ocean across Australia and finish at the Sydney Opera House whenever I get there. I will ride solo snd unsupported the entire route. The route includes the flat treeless Nullarbor Plain,, the rolling hills of the Barossa Valley, the world famous Great Ocean Road, as well as a particularly mountainous section through the heart of the Australian Alps. The route will also pass through the centre of Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.

As challenging as this ride may be, it is my opinion that it pales into insignificance to what challenges a child faces with a critical illness. A critical illness can make life seem very dark and uncertain.

By doing this ride I am hoping to be a champion for sick kids by raising money for Make-A-Wish Australia. Make-a-Wish creates life changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. Wishes are designed to complement a child’s medical treatment, working to calm, distract and inspire at a time they need it most.
