Thanks for supporting our fundraising. The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, and every one of them needs the best support to meet their unique needs.
Hi, we’re Gary & Denise, we will be hiking The South Downs Way in the UK while visiting family. The hike is approx 160kms long and takes 8 to 10 days to complete. We already have over 5000 subscribers on our YouTube channel ( https://youtube.com/@turtletrackstravels?si=3gA1nGktXvT4XohM ) and are hoping to encourage followers to donate. We will also be donating any money we earn from these videos for the next couple of months, dividing the amount between 2 charities. Any costs involved we will be paying for as we were going to do the hike anyway.
We thought that as we’re doing this hike, it would be nice to raise money for 2 charities, one in Australia and one in the UK. We picked 2 charities that really make a difference in peoples lives. We picked Macmillan Cancer Support because this charity is close to our hearts. They supported Denise’s Nan and Grandad, especially Denise’s Nan during her last stages of life and Denise’s Mum and Dad, while Denise’s mum had cancer and cancer treatment (they still continue to support the family). The other charity we picked is Make A Wish Australia because we feel really lucky to be able to travel, hike and 4WD, we know there’s less fortunate people who cannot, and if we can make at least one wish come true, it will all be worth it.
A bit about us- we’ve been living in Australia since 2006 but 3 years ago we sold everything to travel and live on the road. We’ve been travelling around Australia and next year are going to take a vehicle and drive across the globe. We decided to take a European/UK break to see family, complete this hike and do some fundraising.

Our hiking videos have been out 2 months and as promised we said we would donate the proceeds to our 2 charities. Unfortunately, you don’t get that much for a few hundred views, amount came to $52. So we’re splitting that between the 2 charities. Thank you to everyone who did support us during and after our charity hike.
