Help make wishes come true for kids like Tyler
Cassie Jones signed up to take part in Ride For Wishes because she truly knows the impact of a wish. Her son Tyler was diagnosed with an illness when he was just 18 months old.
Tyler’s condition, Metachromatic Leukodystrophy left him unable to speak, walk, swallow or see.
‘We were told his life expectancy was between five and eight years of age’ says mum Cassie. Tyler is now 11-years-old so every day is special.
Tyler loves animals and was over the moon to be surrounded by them in 2014 for his special wish. He had a petting zoo, jumping castle, pirate performer and a BBQ with his friends. He even got to feed a beautiful baby lamb. Tyler’s wish brought joy and hope to his whole family.
Cassie hadn’t ridden her bike for a long time, but she signed up for Ride For Wishes alongside her friend Tammy whose life has also been impacted by Metachromatic Leukodystrophy or MLD. Together, they created Team MLD Awareness and raised money for Make-A-Wish Australia and also raise awareness about this horrible disease.
