How to Get Involved
Meet Andrea
Meet Andrea, former wish kid now Wish Ambassador whose wish to be an artist came true in 2015. Andrea’s inspirational wish helped her become the youngest artist ever to be exhibited in her very own exhibition space at the MCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Sydney!
When she was 10, Andrea was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. It was her love of colour, painting, and drawing that inspired her wish, and she said that whenever she thought about her wish, it helped her forget about her illness and difficult times in hospital undergoing treatment.
“Andrea’s ability to focus on her art was her escape from the cruel and harsh reality of her life back then. Now, she’s doing visual arts for one of her HSC subjects and just loves to put anything together to make art.”
- Andrea’s mum, Tamar

Wishes and Wonder was a powerful example of how art has the power to connect people, tell stories and spark empathy. Hosted at 7 Seasons Art Studio, this silent art auction brought together the creative talents of senior students from 7 Seasons, alongside passionate young artists from Wesley College.
Emerging artists were invited to donate original artworks created around the theme of Wishes and Wonder, exploring ideas of beauty, hope and meaning. On the night of the event, each piece was displayed with a silent auction slip, encouraging guests to read the meaning behind each of the artwork and place a silent bid to help grant wishes for critically ill children.
“I chose to support the Make-A-Wish because of the amazing impact it has on people and the smiles it brings to their faces. I found an opportunity to combine my own passion for community, art, and giving a little hope while spreading positivity into the world. In doing so, I discovered that through art we were not only able to bring hope and happiness to the lives of wish kids, but also to celebrate the incredible talent around us.” - Theresa, organiser of Wishes and Wonder
