Steps for wishes - 75km with make a wish
Hello, my names Simon. I am planning on running 75 kilometres in under 9 hours on the 28th of December in peak Australian summer heat. Over the last year and a half I’ve been on a health and fitness journey that has seen me go from weighing 110kg smoking and drinking daily and not being able to run 200 meters without stopping to catch my breath, to now being 30kg lighter and competing in and finishing 7th in my first ever trail marathon (42.2km). However, I don’t see myself as a runner. I have only competed in two races one being the trail marathon and the other was a simple 10km run on an easy paved course.
I have chosen to support the make a wish foundation on this run for a very special reason. they have helped a family member of mine in the past when they were going through some extreme hardship. It was hard for everyone but looking back I was able to see the power a child’s smile can have when faced with the most extreme of challenges. There are many people that need help and I’m determined to do anything and everything I can to bring joy to a struggling family.
I have marked out my own course starting at the top of Arthur’s seat on the Mornington peninsula, where I will run along the the bay trails and along point Nepean road until I reach fort Nepean in Portsea at the end of the peninsula, from fort Nepean I will run back along the same track, making a detour on the way back to my second checkpoint, number 16 beach car park in rye. From there I will continue back to point Nepean road where I will continue back to Arthur’s seat. I will finish my run by climbing the mountain to the highest point of Arthur’s seat.
please consider donating and helping to make a difference, your support will be able to help grant wishes and bring joy to those who need it most. Thank you for being a part of this journey.
Good Luck! Love you so much 🥰
