From the simple to the seemingly impossible, wishes complement medical treatment, working to calm, distract and empower sick children when they need it most. I'm Walking for a Wish!

This September, I'll be raising money for Make-A-Wish Australia by walking for 12 hours straight on a 3.7KM loop on the Gold Coast.

I know all about putting one foot in front of the other to keep going.

Two separate freak accidents left me blind. The first was when I was 13 and hit myself in my left eye with pliers while trying to pull a nail out of a fence.

Then, at 27, I was blinded in his right eye by an errant golf ball.

After the second incident, I was initially in a rut for about a year.

Stuff just happens and makes life interesting. It was difficult for myself and my wife, but you have to push through and keep going.

Now, because I lost my sight and I don't work, I like to contribute to society by raising money for charities.

Make-A-Wish Australia plays an important role for parents who can't afford to give their sick kids what they wish for.
